Vehicles in German Town Found Covered with Nazi Symbols in Blood, Police Report

Incident location Affected vehicle Local Law Enforcement
Officers mentioned they were alerted by a resident who found a vehicle in Hanau covered with reddish liquid

Roughly fifty vehicles have been covered with what seems to be human bodily fluid in the Germany's town of Hanau close to Frankfurt, police confirm police.

Cars, building surfaces and mailboxes were vandalized, in some cases with swastikas, they reported in a release.

Law enforcement say they were contacted in the late hours on Wednesday, when a resident observed that a automobile in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been marked with a reddish-hued liquid.

The fluid had been placed in the shape of a Nazi symbol, they added.

Officers then located many other marked cars and house walls in the nearby vicinity.

Nazi symbols are banned in Germany under regulations banning the visible presentation of Nazi symbols.

Officials say preliminary tests suggest the substance was most likely human blood.

"At present there remains no lead as to where it came from; officials are not yet cognizant of any injuries in association with the event," they added.

City officials announced they were working "to resolve the case" and have appealed to the community for tips.

A senior political figure said the incident made him stunned and had to be solved rapidly.

"This event affects the center of Hanau and revives the wounds of the right-wing attack five years ago," he wrote on a platform, referring to the killing of nine people by a shooter focusing on residents of migrant background in February 2020.
